Want Night Images? Learn How to Be Ready for Low Light Photography
Clicking photos after sunset for night images can be a big challenge for any photographer. Here the quality of image matters more than anything else. And the only other thing that matters is to learn to be ready for low light photography.
Making sure of the following things in your kitbag can be extremely useful in turning you to a successful low light photographer and get you those good night images that you can use as high resolution wallpaper or simply frame and hang them on your walls.
Camera Flash
The first and the obvious choice is to use the built-in flash in the camera. But you also need the right camera. A camera with good flash might be useful but not the best option for all situations. Internal flash is fine when the setting is small. High-end professional cameras have a relatively better flash support than most point and shoot cameras.
Torch
Although it is not really a photographic equipment but a small torch in your kitbag is vital when you are shooting outside in low light and trying to change camera functions, read settings or altering the exposure.
Tripod
Low light often requires the use of long exposure so that the photo can get enough light. Such long exposures make the use of tripod rather mandatory. So if you are looking forward to shoot pictures for good night images or uploading on best social networking sites, then a good tripod should be on your shopping list.
Fast Lenses
Many people are perplexed by the term ‘fast or slow lens’. So, here’s the meaning of it.
Fast lens in a camera refers to the maximum aperture in a lens. The larger the aperture or opening of the camera, the more light can be let through to the image sensor. So lenses with a wide aperture are more favorable low light shooting.
EXTRA TIP: GO FOR ZOOM LENSES WITH AN APERTURE OF F4.0 OR F2.8. IF YOU DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO THAT THEN THOSE LENSES WITH THE VALUES OF F5.6 AND F8.0 SHALL ALSO DO THE JOB BUT THEY WILL NEED LONGER EXPOSURE DUE TO THEIR ‘’SLOWNESS’’.
Extra Batteries
People often worry more about the lenses or shooting hd images for wallpaper, websites, etc. or locations but forget about batteries. Remember, that long exposures, noise reduction mode and LCD display are functions that can eat up the battery in no time. So make sure that you are carrying fully charged batteries along with spare ones.
Hope these tips will make your night images taking experience swifter and better. So, go out and bring your camera to action.
