Love to Play Songs? Know these Statistics as Well

Change is a constant. And that applies to your music and how you play songs. Recently some interesting trends and statistics were released by ABRSM, a music research network.

These statistics are an interesting way to show our tastes and preferences when it comes to listening latest music songs or when playing a musical instrument.

Since you love to play songs, (well most of you do anyway), know these statistics as well:

Play Songs at a Young Age

When learnt as a child, playing an instrument becomes a lifelong habit. 7 out of 10 children in UK, currently play a musical instrument. That’s a whopping 85%. In comparison 74% adults play musical instrument. These stats are given by Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM)

Piano is the most played instrument. Recorders and other keyboards are still ruling. However, there has been growth in electric guitars, percussion and bass.

21% or one in five young people say they are playing instrument without ever taking lessons. These people are learning by taking help from friends or online learning tools that offer mp3 free music as well.

Sound Equipment Is a Growing Market

The influx of digital technology and online learning or online music sites means home recording studios are now easily accessible to professionals and beginners.

Forget instruments for a second, the audio recording device sales now makes up over 16% of the market. There has also been a significant growth in MIDI controllers and digital instruments like electronic drums.

Musicians are now using software to make latest music songs. These software are easily downloadable from online music stores.

Music Sales: Over the Years

There has been a ground-shifting experience in the way people listen or play songs. The shift in the market began when Amazon began replacing record shops. Between 2004 to 2006 alone, 25% independent record shops shut in UK. The shift to online music had begun.

First the Vinyl was replaced with cassettes. Then cassettes with CDs. After that Vinyl made a comeback. Then the mp3 free music  began buying tunes that were removed of any physical casing. And, then people stop buying tunes and begin to subscribe to online music streaming services. Why buy one mp3 song, when you can get membership to millions of songs online and even monetize your latest music songs?

Conclusion
The music buying journey has changed phenomenally. And, it will continue to do so. Right now, digital online music is the leading way. And, companies need to engage with customers and understand their passion to drive this change.
